Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.Shimla is also known for its beautiful and cold weather. The temperature is comfortable and usually varies between 15°C and 30°C. If you are into adventure sports then this is the ideal time to try paragliding, trekking, camping and rafting. No wonder it is called the Queen of Hill Stations. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. One hundred seven tunnels were originally built, but as a result of landslides only 102 remain in use.It was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.

The hotel industry is one of the major source of income generation for the city. Shimla leads the list of Indian cities with the highest ranked hotels. Most of the tourist came in Himachal in Summer (March to June) and it is the ideal time to visit Himachal is during the summer season, when the area enjoys a spectacularly pleasant climate, occasional thunderstorms and pre-monsoon showers especially in the month of June. And it is not only north Indian tourists like to come and enjoy it is from all over the states of India. Snowfall is also one of the most strong reason for tourist to come Shimla because at the beginning of December . … Generally Shimla receive its first snowfall of the season at the start of January. And after that you can expect snowfall on any day till mid March.Of course there are chances that snowfall might occur during last days of December but chances are less.

The ridge road is a large open space, located in the center of Shimla.The Ridge is the hub of all cultural activities. It is situated along the Mall Road, and the Mall road is the famous shopping center of Shimla and Most of the famous places of Shimla like Snowdon, Jakhoo hill etc are connected through the Ridge. The Ridge road leads to Lakkar Bazaar and lakkar bazaar is famous for its wooden crafts market. It’s the major landmark and the most easily recognized face of the hill station. The Ridge is also famous for the various government events. And one of the most events held in every year in ridge is summer festival and its held in the month of April or May.Ridge is the very beautiful vanue of celebration. Shimla has been blessed with all the natural bounties which one can think of.
